The 16” (406.4 mm) tricone drill bit is a robust rotary drilling tool engineered for versatile performance in oil and gas exploration, geothermal wells, water well drilling, foundation piling, and mining operations. Its proven three-cone design provides balanced cutting action and optimized load distribution across the bit face, ensuring efficient rock penetration in a wide range of geological formations.

The bit is available with two primary cutting structures: Milled Steel Teeth (MT) for soft to medium formations, and Tungsten Carbide Inserts (TCI) for medium to hard formations. The rugged cones are supported by either open bearings, sealed roller bearings, or sealed journal bearings, depending on the operational environment and required durability.

The drill bit connects via a standard API Reg Thread (typically 6 5/8”), with pin type options including API Regular or API Full Hole to suit rig specifications. Its robust alloy steel body is protected with hardfacing or tungsten carbide gauge inserts, enhancing wear resistance and extending bit life. Jet circulation is achieved through three replaceable nozzles, configurable to meet varying mud flow rates and pressure conditions.

Operating parameters include rotary speeds of 80–150 RPM and weight on bit (WOB) ranging from 20,000 to 80,000 lbs, depending on bit design and formation hardness. All components are treated with wear-resistant coatings for corrosion resistance and durability in demanding drilling conditions.
