Baldor-Reliance 661XL Motor – API 661 Compliant, 5–75 hp, Belted Duty, Premium Efficiency

The Baldor-Reliance 661XL Motor is purpose-built for belt-driven, air-cooled heat exchanger systems found in petroleum refining and chemical processing facilities. Designed in strict compliance with API 661 standards, this motor series guarantees durability, reliability, and energy efficiency for mission-critical operations.

Available in horsepower ratings from 5 to 75 hp and NEMA frame sizes 184T through 365T, the 661XL incorporates high-performance features from the proven IEEE 841 motor platform, including enhanced protection systems, extended bearing life, and robust thermal capacity.

Each motor is equipped with roller bearings specifically selected and tested for belted applications, achieving a minimum L10 bearing life of 40,000 hours. A Positive Lubrication System (PLS) enhances bearing performance, and Mobilith grease is used for optimal lubrication under high mechanical stress.

The motor features a Class F insulation system with Class B temperature rise, 1.15 service factor, and is rated for use in Division 2, Class I, Group environments with T3 temperature code at 1.0 SF. For maximum mounting flexibility, it includes vertical lifting provisions for both shaft-up and shaft-down installations.

A fully enclosed IP56 enclosure protects internal components with a bronze labyrinth shaft seal, dome shaft slinger, and gasketed conduit box. Each unit comes inverter-ready with nameplate-marked VFD parameters and is compatible with ABB Smart Sensor technology for remote monitoring.

Supplied with a certified IEEE 841 test report, the 661XL motor exceeds IEEE 841-2009 requirements and is one of the most reliable and field-proven motors for demanding belt-driven heat exchanger operations.
