The CATERPILLAR C32 Marine Generator Set, manufactured in 2012, is a high-performance marine-rated power system designed for propulsion support and auxiliary generation in commercial, offshore, and naval applications. Built around Caterpillar’s proven 4-stroke V12 diesel engine platform, the C32 delivers up to 715 kW (956 HP) of prime power and 770 kW (1035 HP) standby power at 1800 RPM.
The engine has a displacement of 32.2 liters, a compression ratio of 16:1, and features turbocharging with aftercooling for increased power density and fuel efficiency. It operates with a 24 VDC electric start system and an electronic governor for precise speed control. The engine rotation is counterclockwise (viewed from flywheel), and the firing order ensures optimal combustion and smooth operation.
The C32 marine genset is available with freshwater heat exchanger or keel cooling, making it flexible for different installation requirements. Fuel consumption is approximately 215 g/kWh at full load, with notable improvements at partial loads.
