ALSTOM MS9001E Gas Turbine Generator – 100 MW, 50 Hz, Multi-Fuel with Generator

The ALSTOM MS9001E is a heavy-duty 100 MW gas turbine generator system built for utility-scale and industrial power production. Commissioned in December 1988 and currently located in Kot Addu, Pakistan, the unit is installed but de-synchronized and preserved in good condition. It has recorded 157,232 operating hours with 8,716 starts and 314,101 equivalent hours.

This multi-fuel turbine is paired with a high-capacity ALSTOM T229-320 synchronous generator rated at 130 MVA, featuring a power factor of 0.85, 11,500 V output, and 6,527 A rated current. The unit operates at 3000 rpm with continuous duty classification under IEC standards. The generator uses indirect air cooling for the stator and direct air cooling for the rotor, with Class F insulation.

Excitation is handled by an ALSTOM TKJ 86.15 rotating diodes exciter rated at 318 kW, 151 V, and 2110 A, with separate 49 V excitation voltage and 98 A current. The exciter is multiphase and designed for continuous operation with IP44 protection.

The complete system includes the turbine, gearbox, generator, exciter, HRSG, transformers, control systems, and all associated Balance of Plant (BOP). It underwent a major overhaul and uprating in Nov–Dec 2011. Full inspection reports are available.
