ALSTOM MS9001E Gas Turbine Generator – 100 MW, 50 Hz, Multi-Fuel, With Generator & Exciter

The ALSTOM MS9001E is a high-capacity industrial gas turbine generator engineered for dependable, large-scale power generation. Commissioned in January 1989, this unit is installed at Kot Addu, Punjab, Pakistan, and is currently de-synchronized and preserved. It has logged 157,729 operating hours with 7,979 starts and 317,979 equivalent hours.

Designed for multi-fuel use, this unit supports both liquid and gaseous fuels, providing flexibility across operational environments. The package includes the ALSTOM T229-320 synchronous generator rated at 130 MVA, 11,500 V output, and 6,527 A rated current, operating at 50 Hz and 3000 rpm. Cooling is achieved via indirect air for the stator and direct air for the rotor, with Class F insulation and IP44 protection under IEC continuous duty standards.

The excitation system consists of a rotating diodes exciter model TKJ 86.15, delivering 318 kW at 151 V and 2110 A. The exciter features a separate excitation source and operates continuously with F-class insulation.

This complete power generation system includes the gas turbine, gearbox, generator, exciter, HRSG, control panels, transformers, and the entire Balance of Plant (BOP). A major uprating and overhaul was completed in Nov–Dec 2011. Inspection documentation is available.
