The Media Containment Unit (MCU) by Flow-Tek, a division of Bray, is a specialized valve accessory engineered to provide enhanced environmental protection, leak detection, and extended sealing performance in demanding industrial environments. Designed to complement Flow-Tek’s robust stem sealing technology, the MCU introduces a secondary containment barrier that can be actively monitored to identify primary stem seal failures before they escalate.
Crafted from investment cast stainless steel, the MCU delivers superior corrosion resistance, making it ideal for aggressive and hazardous media. Its modular architecture is compatible with both manual and automated operations, fitting seamlessly with Bray's Secure Mount actuators and handles.
The MCU’s live-loaded stem sealing system utilizes Belleville springs to adapt dynamically to pressure and temperature changes, while a TFM V-ring packing system ensures tight, reliable sealing for extended cycle life. Leak detection is facilitated by a strategically placed monitoring port, which supports integration with pressure gauges or sniffer sensors.
Optional features include sealant injection ports for emergency shutdown or tertiary sealing, and the ability to apply positive pressure sealing via pneumatic connection to prevent any emissions. The elevated height of the MCU keeps packing isolated from extreme process temperatures, making it suitable for high- and low-temperature services.
Easy to retrofit in the field, the Media Containment Unit significantly reduces operational downtime, lowers maintenance costs, and enhances plant safety by mitigating fugitive emissions and enabling proactive valve monitoring.
