The TAURUS T7301 is an industrial-grade gas turbine developed by Solar Turbines (now a part of Caterpillar Inc.), engineered for efficient power generation and mechanical drive applications. Manufactured in 1996, the T7301 model offers a nominal electrical output of 25 MW at 50 Hz and can reach up to 28 MW under optimal conditions. Its single-shaft configuration supports both simple and combined cycle operation, making it highly versatile for a wide range of industrial uses.
Designed for natural gas as the primary fuel, the turbine also supports other gaseous fuels such as propane or biogas, depending on configuration. The TAURUS T7301 is equipped with a Dry Low NOx (DLE) combustion system to ensure emissions compliance, delivering NOx emissions as low as 25–30 ppm at 15% O₂ and extremely low levels of CO and particulate matter. This makes it suitable for operation in environmentally sensitive or regulatory-compliant zones.
With simple cycle efficiency around 32–34% and combined cycle performance reaching up to 55%, the T7301 offers both efficiency and flexibility. Its fast start-up time of 10–15 minutes and excellent load-following capabilities make it ideal for grid-connected facilities and rapid deployment scenarios.
The turbine includes a robust digital control system with remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance capabilities, and built-in safety sensors for temperature, overspeed, and vibration monitoring.
